Comedy Central Roast DVD Set...

Seems no one is safe from Comedy Central’s Roasts. Huge personalities with famous names we all recognize have been subjected to ridicule, harassment, harmless jokes (or not) and worse; all in the name of a Roast. The DVDs which portray these comedic jousting matches are sometimes advertised as ‘uncensored’; so if you’re going to play it on family night, you might want to rethink that choice. Even the censored DVDs are dicey, at best.

Hoff and Puff and BLOOOOWW Your Career

If you’re famous and you have a skeleton or two in your closet chances are, someone from Comedy Central is already firing up the coals. Probably the most deserving of roastees was David Hasselhoff (alias The Hoff)… What a dope. After being videotaped while drunkenly attempting to devour a sandwich (by his daughter, nonetheless) the onetime dreamy TV lifeguard finally succeeded in absolute self defamation. What a dope. Pamela Anderson, on the other hand, (also a former TV lifeguard… same show) had plenty of help from Tommy Lee in making herself the ‘butt’ of undeniably adult jokes; thereby cementing her place in Comedy Roast History.

It Always Comes In Threes

I was able to track down a three DVD set featuring the Comedy Central Roasts of William Shatner, previously mentioned Pamela Anderson and Denis Leary. Shatner’s DVD is advertised as being extended and uncensored, so again, beware. Other ‘honorees’ that have been annihilated are Flavor Flav, Bob Saget, Joan Rivers, Jeff Foxworthy, Willie Nelson, Larry the Cable Guy, Kid Rock (this had been scheduled for January 17, 2011) and last but not least The Donald (Donald Trump-to be taped on March 9, 2011).

A final note of some significance is that the roast of David Hasselhoff was the last Roast for roaster Greg Geraldo. Mr. Geraldo was a quick witted comedian who, sadly, died of an accidental prescription drug overdose. He was widely praised and will be sorely missed.
