Chat Room Etiquette...

Chat for adults is becoming more and more popular.  Each chat room may have its own set of guidelines for proper etiquette within the adult chat pad.  There is usually a FAQ page that will outline proper etiquette guidelines for the site.  While some small things may vary, there are some basic rules that will keep you polite in every chatting site.

Minimize the Noise

Keep in mind that chat rooms are full of a lot of people.  There are going to be a lot of different people talking and it can get quite “loud.”  With that in mind, don’t introduce yourself to everyone in the room.  If you have a question, be specific.  If it’s a question for a specific person, put @theirusername before your question.  Be patient and give people a chance to answer you.  Don’t repeat your question over and over again.  It’s busy enough as is.  Be polite.  Don’t type in all caps.  Caps indicate shouting.

Be Considerate

Though chat rooms tend to be more anonymous this doesn’t give you permission to be rude.  Basic rules of social etiquette still apply.  Just like you wouldn’t walk up to someone on the street and ask them their name, age, and address, don’t just ask someone ASL in a chatroom.  Get to know people through chatting.  Make friends.  You wouldn’t just take someone by the arm and pull them into a room at a party.  In a chat for adults it’s always polite to ask before privately messaging someone.

If you ignore etiquette or come off as rude, you may get booted from the chat room.  Just keep these simple social skills in mind and you can have a good time chatting!
